Daniel & Nikki's Atmospheric Family Celebration

Featured Jack Bunney Grooms - Real Weddings

This is our first ever 'Featured Jack Bunney Grooms' post and to be honest it is all rather exciting!  Not only are we getting to blog about 'Real' weddings, we get to do it from a perspective that will hopefully be interesting for our customers and readers.

So here is Daniel & Nikki's Atmospheric Family Celebration:

Daniel and Nikki first met way back in '99 at their local.  The proposal however was not until 2007 on holiday in the U.S. and a sunset cruise around Key West.  Daniel's plan worked a little too well and Nikki nearly had an asthma attack from the shock.  That's how you sweep a woman off her feet!

After the proposal comes the planning, Daniel said "We enjoyed everything about the planning except finalizing the guest list for the day. It's really hard to exclude people you care about to make the numbers work"

Daniel being the modern man that he is, was quite involved in the planning "Yes, maybe a little too involved. I kept track of the budget and just pitched in with ideas when asked for my opinion. Its safest that way! "  Well modern-ish!

Then there are those REALLY important parts of the planning, you know the absolute essentials.  The Stag and the Suits.

How did the Stag go Daniel?  "Messy was an understatement!"  2 weeks in Benidorm culminating in one of the lads being helped from the plane by Paramedics when landing back in Luton.  Messy..indeed.

This is the Jack Bunney Blog, so we know where the suits came from! But here is what Daniel had to say about the suits:

"I remember seeing the Harrogate suit in the advert in a magazine which I loved but when I tried it on, it just wasn’t right for my shape. I eventually settled on a made to order Richmond in dark grey and loved everything about it! The experience of being in a real tailors with professionals is something you cant put a price on. From the advice to the quality of work is something I will recommend to all my friends before they marry. Also, not to forget the made to measure shirt…. WOW…..in the words of Ace Ventura, LIKE A GLOOOOVE!"

Did you enjoy the process of having a suit made and sorting out your five other Grooms party members?
"Yes, it was probably the only part of the whole process I had complete control of and really enjoyed putting together a look for me and the groomsmen that would complement the wedding style."

The wedding day itself was a family friendly, party/celebration with the emphasis on 'Atmosphere'.  Daniel had one word which described how he felt on that day and how he thought the day went overall:
"Perfect!"

Actually Daniel had a few more words too.  (If you are of an emotional disposition be prepared to grab a tissue now!)

"It was on a par with the two days when our children were born. I didn’t think it would feel any different to be married but it does. It felt like our family was really complete and more secure. A lovely feeling."

Did you cry then Daniel?

"No ... but I did get a bit choked"

Daniel hired the Rat Pack Boys  as singing waiters who blended in all day making hilarious mistakes and winding up guests! Until they broke into song at the end of the main course.  The whole room was on it's feet singing 'That's Amore' by the end!

Daniel had these words of wisdom (from a Groom who's now been there and done that):

"You only get married once (hopefully) so you need to do it the right way. Everything else in life you get a chance to practice at but a wedding you have to get right first time. Don’t worry about the money, its all worth it. It’s a day you’ll never forget. Make sure you look around for what you want and don’t compromise."

Daniel & Nikki would like to say a special thank you to:

Brides of Berkhamsted for Nikki's incredible dress.

The Bunney Blog - What we are doing, blogging about real weddings etc.

We've had this blog now for some time.  Quite a few years actually.  I must admit i've always felt that we have never really used the medium of blogging in the 'correct' way.

We have used this blog as essentially a dumping-ground.  This is where we put all that information that we don't want clogging up our main site.  This is where put unfinished or unprofessional images, where we float new ideas and where we let people know what might be happening before we have decided it is actually happening!

I have always used it as a form of communication where I don't have to type with my 'formal' business head, instead I can just type, spell/grammar check and click publish.  I don't have to think too much, as nothing here is ever that definitive.

But there are now other ways to informally communicate with people, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest are all more widely viewed than this here blog.  So this blog has kind of slowly died.  I post less, I use it  less because I need it less.

I can stop blogging and not use it any more.  That's one option but I would rather not.  I would instead like to use it more.  I would like to take my lead from all of those massively influential and popular wedding blogs out there (RocknRollBride, WhimsicalWeddingWonderland , BespokeBride) and actually blog real weddings.

I certainly have a massive pool of weddings to utilise, I am involved in literally hundreds & hundreds of weddings every year.  Simply by asking our customers if they are interested in having their wedding blogged by us here we will inevitably have quite a lot of weddings to blog every year, I would estimate that we could blog a minimum of one a week maybe 2-3 depending on how much time I have available .
I do feel a bit guilty about doing this though.  After all, Jack Bunneys is already a successful business, and there are lots of wedding blogs out there trying to make a living just blogging.  I would hope that my amateur attempts at their profession will not impact on them financially.

In that spirit the new look blog will NOT be running any advertisements at all.  We will not be taking any sponsors money.

We will also be blogging these weddings from a "Jack Bunney' perspective.  For example the interview for each blog will be from the 'Grooms' perspective and not the Brides.  We will probably spend a disproportionate amount of time discussing suits, after all that's what I really care about and so do our customers.  I am hoping I can show people that our Grooms do demand a little more, that they are very involved in wedding planning and most of all that they care!

Q: Is this one big self-serving advert for Jack Bunneys then?

A: Yes, in a way.  We will be our own sponsors, our own advertisers and each post will be a Jack Bunney sponsored post.  Having said that, the weddings that we blog will be interesting, they will be REAL and the words, opinions, ideas and thoughts will be from actual Grooms.

This is our idea for the future of the Bunney Blog.  It will no doubt still be used as our sounding board for new ideas and for a place to dump information that we don't want cluttering up our main site.  But the REAL WEDDING portion of the blog will hopefully be new, fresh and interesting.

Thank You
Marc

2014 - Men's Wedding Fashion - Trends - What 'Will' happen in 2014

A few days ago I wrote a post about what I would 'Like' to see happen in 2014 (in terms of mens wedding suit fashion).  You can read that post here: Clicky    This post featured some of my favourite things that I personally would love to see more of in 2014.  These include things like : Double Breasted Suits,  Different Coloured Suits & Bow Ties.    However as much as I would like to see these things become popular in 2014,  I know that some of these things will remain 'niche' or will become popular in 2015 or even beyond.   So what will actually be popular in 2014?  Here are my predictions:

1. Three Piece Suits

3.Piece Lounge suits have been THE most popular style of suit since 2010 and I cannot see a dramatic decline in this trend.   I would expect the majority of wedding suits in 2014 to feature a matching waistcoat.

2.  Blue Suits.

Blue suits have been the most popular colour of wedding suit since 2011 and was the predominate colour in 2012.  2013 has seen this trend continue, although not the dominant colour.  I would expect blue to continue to be popular throughout 2014.

3.  U-Shaped Waistcoats:

Low-Buttoning U-Shaped waistcoats have always been exceptionally popular for Jack Bunneys, but over the last two years, it has been our most popular style of waistcoat and I expect that trend to continue in 2014.

4. Slim - Everything

The trend overt the last few years has been slim.  Slim suits, slim trousers, slim shirt, slim tie, slim everything!   I see no reason whilst this trend will not continue.

5. Accessories!

Pocket watches, Cufflinks, Tie-Bars, Tie-Pins, Collar Bars, Collar Clips , Pocket Squares, Boutonnières, Arm Bands and Braces.  2013 has been the year of the accessories and this will continue throughout 2014.
